What is SOCOM Nation? Devoted players share their stories.
December 22, 2008 - Veteran SOCOM players don't refer to themselves as being
part of a nation, but it's an affectionate term used to designate the loyal
following the series has developed over the last seven years. The franchise
started out on the PlayStation 2 console (four installments) and eventually
branched out to the PlayStation Portable (three installments) before
arriving on the PlayStation 3 for the first time with the recently released
SOCOM: Confrontation.
With the help of PlayStation community managers, we tracked down three
longtime players for a glimpse into this world:
Eric from Poplar Grove, Illinois; John from Pueblo, Colorado; and Josh from Fayetteville, Arkansas.
They shouldn't have released Home before the
SOCOM 1.30 patch...

SOCOM 1.30 Update
Hello,
A quick status update on the SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 Update.
We are still working through all of the SOCOM Awards and Trophy issues. This
is a big addition to the game and takes a significant time to test, fix
issues and test again. The trophies take a long time to collect so the
iteration on bug fixes takes a while to verify. We are getting close and
hope to have a final master candidate to submit to Format QA soon.
In the meantime, I wanted to provide a glimpse of some of the new features
you will see in the 1.30 update. We'll be showing these over the next week,
so please stay tuned.
First up, the transparent scoreboard. We took feedback from the SOCOM
Community that you would like to see the scoreboard be transparent and to be
able to continue to move while it is displayed. We've added this
functionality so that if you hold down the select button the scoreboard will
be displayed on screen, it is transparent and you can continue to move. It
works in the same way as previous SOCOM games.

Here are some of the
items planned for the update. Please note that some items listed may be
delayed to a following update if additional development is required beyond
what our schedule for the 1.30 update allows. This should not be considered
a guarantee that these items will be in the 1.30 update, but we did want to
give everyone a heads up as to what is on our plate currently.
